Urban Retreat is fortunate to offer a talented group of sales staff who also offer a wide range of design services.   Our highly talented and imaginative designers have created many beautiful interiors throughout the DC Metro Area.  Whether your project involves a single room or an entire home, our designers will help you create a space that you will absolutely love. 


Jodie Labovitch - Interior Designer & Visual Merchandiser

I have studied and worked in the design business my entire life with 25 plus years experience. I have worked with vendors and showrooms in New York, Chicago, Denver, and DC.  I have been involved in many aspects of the industry, including product design and marketing, sales and customer service, and I have had my own interior design business during these years.   

My speciality is repurposing items you already own to give your home a designer touch. I work closely with my clients to bring style, function and comfort together.  I believe you have to live in your home and be realistic about how you use it. Whether you prefer modern furnishings or a more traditional style, I can help you choose the right patterns, colors, textures and feel to create the right space for you and your family.   I recently did a mini seminar on the "Power of Paint & Accessories".  You do not have to spend a lot to have a big impact.  Whether its new construction, a remodel, or a quick consult I can help provide advise and direction for you to achieve the look you are after.  

The two designers that have influenced me the most are Holly Hunt and Rose Tarlow.  Together they combine a balance of clean lined furnishings with naturally patinaed antiques.  

I love combining the new with the old!  I also like the surprise element of a space that balances textiles and textures, shapes and sizes!

This service is for individuals looking for assistance with that "one" special room in their home.  Space planning, color selection, repurposing existing furnishings are just a few examples of what our designers can offer.  If you are in need of more time, our designers are available for outside consultation.

Fall Decorating

I've been inspired by all the fall decor on various websites and wish that inspiration can carry into my own house.  Sure, I've got time to paint a few pumpkins, hike in the mountains for maple leaf branches and chop down corn stalks and attach them to my front door.  I'm optimistic that time will be on my side soon:)

NEW TABLETOP

I'm absolutely in LOVE with this new tabletop from Europe!  The pieces are offered in three colors; white, gray and cream.  We will showcase all three colors in the store.  I love the details like the ribbed edges and the large bowls with unique handles.  We will also carry serving bowls, platters and pitchers.

COZY THROWS

Colorful, and lots of patterns are coming our way for Fall!  The trendy patterns in these throws immediately caught my eye.  We're getting you ready for color & comfort this Fall:) 

NEW LIGHT SOURCE

I was on a hunt for new lighting for my home so when I saw these lamps I knew I needed to open an account ASAP!  This new lighting source is located in California.  I love the shape of these lamp bases and the natural and gray wood tones.  The shades are sold separately but since they match so perfectly with the lamps I choose, I think we'll sell them together as a set.  Can't wait for my lamps to decorate my own house!!

 PILLOWS, PILLOWS, OF COURSE!

Lots of rich, gold tones mixed with a soft blue hue...even better looking in person.  It's hard to show the dimension and depth of these pillows in these pictures.  It's the same source we are currently carrying.  Very well priced for the quality of fabric, pattern and pillow fill.

FRENCH INSPIRED POTTERY

My eye was caught by these french inspired pottery.  The distressing and heftiness of these pieces attracted me and I think they will be a hit with our new tabletop products.

Urban Retreat has been extremely busy! Our Spring Cleaning sale was a success. In the process our floor went thru a major overhaul.
